Blockchain is enabling the world to imagine. The new generation of on-chain governance is coming to reality.
The core of DAO is on-chain governance. Without blockchain, many things are unimaginable! Now we can implement quadratic voting, Harberger tax, continuous organizations, Moloch, and many more interesting schemes and products ON-CHAIN! Thus, Dora Factory team is continuously hosting a unique DAO Hack, aka. the Dora Factory Community QF Grant to provide incentive for creative designs in on-chain governance.
The first round of the Grant successfully ended on August 31 with 8 teams receiving $50,000 community support, including DAOrayaki, a decentralized DAO media, Vhota App, a polling application, EntangledQuery, a DAO for quantum knowledge sharing, Ethsign, a Web3 e-signature tool, etc.. Thanks all the hackers for building a stronger Dora Factory community! From Oct 6, the 2nd round of Dora Factory Community QF Grant will be launched. For the 2nd round of the grant, Dora Factory is injecting 8,000 DORA to the initial prize pool. This Grant will be distributed based on the Quadratic Funding V2 protocol on the HackerLink platform.
And what makes this round special is that you will be the initial users to experience Dora Factory parachain testnet with DORATEST, the test token for voting during the grant!
Join us to innovate and build DAO schemes and products for the mass adoption of DAO!
*Grant prize pool will be distributed by the results of quadratic voting using DORATEST. To avoid sybil attack and increase the fairness of quadratic voting, the Quadratic Funding V2 mechanism as well as DoraID is applied to this grant and hackathon.
Who can apply?
Compared to the 1st round, Dora Factory Community Grant Round-2 welcomes a larger scale of BUIDLers to build! Whether you are hackers with great ideas or already are building moonshot DAO technology or products, we welcome all new and old hacking buddies!
We would love to see BUIDLs in the following fields:
Core Modules: Multisig Pallet, Private Voting Middlewares
Moloch Pallet: Contribute to the Dora Factory Moloch pallet，and build frontend products / services based on the pallet https://github.com/DoraFactory/Substrate-Moloch-V1 https://github.com/DoraFactory/Substrate-Moloch-V2
Governance applications and toolkits with Dora Factory Testnet Contract Pallet
Build dev tools and UI for Dora Factory Contract Pallet

https://vitalik.ca/general/2019/12/07/quadratic.html Please refer to Vitalik Buterin's article “Quadratic Payments：A Primer" if you are not familiar with Quadratic Voting and Quadratic Funding mechanisms.
HackerLink provides quadratic funding tools to the DoraHacks global hackathon community.
There are two funding sources -- the community donation and the sponsor's prize pool.
For individual community contributors: you can donate to any project(s) you like with your wallet. By clicking "Vote" following that project, you will be able to enter votes and the smart contract will return the cost (or the amount of donation) for the votes. Your votes will eventually determine how the sponsor pool gets distributed.
Before voting, make sure your wallet is connected to Ethereum Mainnet and you have DORA tokens ready. The first vote will cost 1 DORA.
This QF round is using the Quadratic Funding V2 Protocol. Details of the new protocol can be found here: https://dorafactory.medium.com/quadratic-funding-v2-protocol-anti-sybil-fairness-and-scalability-on-chain-2a7aec43541c
There are two major new components in the Quadratic Funding V2 Protocol -- DoraID and the quadratic progressive tax system. The QF V2 protocol uses DoraID for anti-sybil staking, and uses the quadratic progressive tax system to mitigate inequality of the original quadratic funding protocol.
Quadratic Progressive Tax System: https://ethresear.ch/t/mitigate-quadratic-funding-inequality-with-a-progressive-tax-system/9859
In this QF round, an address with a valid DoraID identity can weight 100x more than a random address. Currently, DoraID frontend can be accessed here: https://dorafactory.github.io/DoraID
