Introduction

The core of DAO is on-chain governance. Without blockchain, many things are unimaginable! Now we can implement quadratic voting, Harberger tax, continuous organizations, Moloch, and many more interesting schemes and products ON-CHAIN! The new generation of on-chain governance is coming to reality.

Thus, Dora Factory team is hosting a unique DAO Hack, aka. the Dora Factory Community QF Grant to provide incentive for creative designs in on-chain governance. Join us to innovate and build DAO schemes and products for the mass adoption of DAO!

For the 1st round of Dora Factory Community Quadratic Funding Grant, Dora Factory is injecting $20,000 USD worth of crypto to the initial prize pool. This Grant will be distributed based on the Quadratic Funding V2 protocol on the HackerLink platform.

Dora Factory’s Community Grant aims to incentivize and reward developers to build on-chain governance schemes, applications, products, and even infrastructure level toolkits to revolutionize the DAO space.

Who can apply?

Hackers building cool DAO stuff. Whether you are hackers with great ideas or already are building moonshot DAO technology or products, we welcome all new and old hacking buddies! We would love to see BUIDLs in the following fields: Toolkits or side products to improve user experience on HackerLink Substrate pallets integrated to the Dora Factory parachain template that can be used in parachain governance Smart contracts of substrate pallets that improve Dora Factory DAO governance Frontend products of Dora Factory Substrate pallets (QF, MolochDAO, Futarchy, etc.) Products and technology to improve governance on Ethereum and other EVM compatible chains Anti-sybil and anti-fraud solutions through DoraID

Voting Mechanism

https://vitalik.ca/general/2019/12/07/quadratic.html Please refer to Vitalik Buterin's article “Quadratic Payments:A Primer" if you are not familiar with Quadratic Voting and Quadratic Funding mechanisms.

HackerLink provides quadratic funding tools to the DoraHacks global hackathon community.

There are two funding sources -- the community donation and the sponsor's prize pool.

For individual community contributors: you can donate to any project(s) you like with your wallet. By clicking "Vote" following that project, you will be able to enter votes and the smart contract will return the cost (or the amount of donation) for the votes. Your votes will eventually determine how the sponsor pool gets distributed.

Before voting, make sure your wallet is connected to Ethereum Mainnet and you have DORA tokens ready. The first vote will cost 1 DORA.

This QF round is using the Quadratic Funding V2 Protocol. Details of the new protocol can be found here: https://dorafactory.medium.com/quadratic-funding-v2-protocol-anti-sybil-fairness-and-scalability-on-chain-2a7aec43541c

There are two major new components in the Quadratic Funding V2 Protocol -- DoraID and the quadratic progressive tax system. The QF V2 protocol uses DoraID for anti-sybil staking, and uses the quadratic progressive tax system to mitigate inequality of the original quadratic funding protocol.

DoraID: https://dorafactory.medium.com/doraid-a-solution-for-did-and-staking-on-dora-factory-1fe2f4d942cf Quadratic Progressive Tax System: https://ethresear.ch/t/mitigate-quadratic-funding-inequality-with-a-progressive-tax-system/9859

In this QF round, an address with a valid DoraID identity can weight 100x more than a random address. 30 DORA is required, the minimum staking period is till 12:00 pm, September 5th 2021 SGT. Currently, DoraID frontend can be accessed here: https://dorafactory.github.io/DoraID
